I need help with the first thief's guild quest. I've gone to the 'false' thief's guild as Renal Bloodscalp asked me. There the main man told me to get a statuette from the temple of Lathander. With great expectations, I went to the temple. There I snooped a bit with Yoshimo until I came to a chest that was locked. So I checked for traps, not finding any I picked the lock and opened the chest. The statuette was there, the only problem was the alarm that went of, alarming all the gaurds to my pressence.
Since I don't want to kill all the priests and gaurds, I tried again, and no matter how many times I try I trigger the alarm. I checked on a whole lot of walkthroughs for any clues, but every walkthrough I tried talks about nabbing some amulet from Talos instead of my quest. Does anybody else have this quest, and if so how do I solve it. Thun Longbeard. |

You must be evil, that's the reason why. If so why are you so afraid to kill people? *sigh* If you feel this compelling need to save lives, then buy a potion of invisibility and drink it after you grab the statuette. You should be able to sneak out without shedding blood.

Ummm, I'm not evil. I'm a chaotic good stalker(ranger). Maybe a bug. Oh and it's not just the character inside the temple who gets attacked, it's also those outside the temple.

Have you tried the potion of master thievery? That may help you?
I don't know tho.. I haven't had that quest yet. Good luck! |

Contrary to popular belief, the quest you get from Mae'Var is random. It's not too hard, though it requires a lot of patience. You have to wait until the two guards near the safe are off duty; at that time, there will be a priest patrolling the area. Wait until he goes over to the other side of the temple, so that there's no NPCs on-screen. If you open the safe and swipe the statuette when there's nobody around, the alarm won't get sounded.
