There is a record by a local Singaporean artist called Stephanie Sun or SUN YAN ZI called 'MY DESIRED HAPPINESS'
I can honestly say it is one of the best records I have ever heard. It's through Warner Records Taiwan, and uses an organic instruments foundation (drums guitars, live strings, organ, piano) but good use of loops, samples and other 'modern' sounds. Commitment to groove, sonic excellence, interesting and melodic parts, emotive vocals and dynamics make this an incredibly enjoyable record. It's up for some awards in Taiwan which is what alerted me to this record. IF YOU CAN, GET IT AT ALL COSTS! It's in Mandarin so you'll need to open your mind, but the music and melodies are very accessible, while still containing very very interesting musical, instrumental and mix choices. Best record I've heard in a long while. It is inspiring, humbling and aurally satisfying all at the same time. I'll try and get a sample of it to Stealthys site ASAP. ------------------ O.K..... what do I do now? A fair dinkum laughing Hyena! [This message has been edited by Yorick (edited 04-06-2001).] |

Hello Moiraine, how are you? How's the weather in France today?
Yorick - Let us know if you get that music to Stealthy's site I'd be interested to hear what you are describing. ------------------ |

Hi LadyWendy ! Fine weather here - Spring - going to turn very rainy for the week-end - normal, since I go in vacation and will have to drive 600 kms (or should I say 400 miles) ...
Oh, I didn't ask about your new house, since you mentioned in an earlier post that you didn't want us to. Hi Yorick, still enjoying Singapore ? When do you leave for new exciting adventures ? ------------------ The world is my oyster ! Yorick,
I'll have a listen if you put some on Stealthy's site with the promise that if I like it I will try to buy a copy. ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. Epona of The Laughing Hyenas and The Ladies Guild. |

I can't believe how much I have gained from this trip. Normally when I hear music, I try and break it down so I can be influenced by what works in it. With this, I don't care, I'm a happy listener, totally content to enjoy the sonic feast laid before me.
Oh I have one criticism thus far. The record has finished ------------------ O.K..... what do I do now? A fair dinkum laughing Hyena! |

I think I might have mentioned previously not talking about the house "hunt," as for a while there things were looking extremely bleak. The moving last week was yet another thing akin to hell. But now all is well and I am settled in nicely in our new house. Thanks for asking! ------------------ |
