This one is for all the whizkids out there. A friend of mine is in serious need of help with her yahoo emailaccount. She emailed some very important documents to herself. She will need them within days. But unfortunately she has somehow managed to lose her password. This would not be a problem, were it not that she doesn't know the answer to the secret question, and her alternative email adress she gave at registration is out of order. Does anyone know how she might recover her password, besides waiting for eternity until yahoo replies?

I can give you a UK customer service telephone number:
+44 20 7808 4444 They may be able to pass you on to someone in the Netherlands. As for retrieving the password, this is going to be pretty impossible unless a) she uses Internet Explorer b) and uses Windows 95/98/ME c) and she got IE to save her password when logging in. |

Somehow I just assumed Firefox was a little more secure than that! Or do you have an encryption option? Edit: Just to cover all her bases, if she has done this in Opera, she can break the encryption without too much effort unless she's opted to use the 'Master Password' feature in which case there's not a chance. go through the process as if your account had been hacked, you can specify a new email address to receive the new password. It may take a day or two to resolve, but be persistent and it won't take that long. My account was cracked not long ago and I had to go through similar steps to recover it (and resecure it)

with Firefox you can view your saved passwords (you can secure the list with a password if you choose), but you just have to go to tools -> options ->privacy -> passwords

Thank you all for the quick replies. My friend has managed to obtain her password and handed in her assignment today, so all is well. Again thanks for all the help!
