There is this barely highlighted rectangle in a rock wall on the East side of Mt. Gigas. On the map I see there is another room on the other side. Maybe it's a one way door? How do I get to the other side? It's probably something sneaky...?

If you walk a little north there is an alcove on the right. On the floor you can see another rectangle. Just drop an item on it and walk back.

Hi Ziggurat!

Just walk on (I think it was west), you will find a room with a ramp-like thing (sorry, don't have a better word for it), quite small, but you surely will see it (it's not far from the room you are looking for). Put anything you like/don't like on it, it will vanish in the ground (whatever you put on it will stay there until you pick it up again) and so open the door you found.

Never forget your towel, cheers

Thanks to both of you! I was puzzled about this in my first game so wanted to "solve" it to see what I missed. This dropping items on a plate to make a door open reminds me of some really old RPGs, such as Eye of the Beholder.

EotB kicks ass! I'm still frightened to death whenever I see giant ants come at me. Luckily, that doesn't occur very often in real life.

the cheat stratagy book said you have to put some thing very heavy
on it, like the big lump of silver.

you mean I can just put anything there and it will open!!????

Yes, gaunty, I think everything will do. I used a bag of 3 breadrolls, that's not very heavy...

I generally use a single feather dart to weigh down that plate. So yes, anything at all will do. How heavy it is doesn't matter.

I used a more fun approach. I set a portal at the door, went and stood on the platform then teleported back. Worked just fine
