Okay - this English woman was making adverts for her husbands company and was listed as a director of the company. He sold videos showing how to make money from buying and selling property. To make the adverts they hire four attractive actors, a stately home, fast car and a helicopter.

The police decided that people were being led to believe that the luxury lifestyle had been achieved by following the plan in the video.

So here are the questions

Has this woman commited a crime?
If so what is her crime?
and if guilty what would be a suitable punishment?

Well infomercials are not allowed on terrestrial TV in the UK!

We use the term 'terrestrial' to differentiate from cable or satellite TV.

If I understand it correctly (which is doubtful ) this is fraud. In which case, she should pay a fine or serve a short sentence.

I say let her be. A fool and his money are soon parted, and if you believe in infomecials then you are indeed a fool. It isnt the governments job to protect people from stupidity.

Statements below are my opinion and only my opinion. You may agree, disagree, or put your fingers in your ears and hum "Lalalalalalalalalalala", but its still not going to change the fact that its my opinion. That being said, I post the following. Note: Please skip this post if you are squeamish, have had recent surgery, have high blood pressure, or suffer the heartbreak of Psoriasis. The post below meets or exceeds the government minimum daily requirements for my opinion; please do not drive or operate heavy machinery while reading this post.

In My Opinion...it becomes the government's job to protect people from their own stupidity by default. You see, the stupid & scammed often end up homeless and on public assistance. It's quite obviously the government's job to minimize homelessness and public assistance, so it is in the public interest to arrest, try, and punish scam-artists like the one described above. As for punishment, I tend to be environmentally friendly. Can she be burned like a fossil fuel to try to reduce our dependence on foriegn oil?

Sounds like either fraud, or at least conspiracy to commit fraud. AFA punishment, depends on how much they were able to scam people. Some jail time + community service + refunding double what they took in from those ads to each customer.

Do they ever actually say, “hey I got all this stuff from what I am trying to sell you”? Probably not, so it is just clever advertisement. If someone cannot see through it then…
