Can someone PLEASE explain the lyrics of this song? I'm young and angry, but not dissafected, so I have a hard time understanding what this is about.

Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics

Load up on guns and
Bring your friends
It's fun to lose
And to pretend
She's over bored
And self assured
Oh no, I know
A dirty word

hello, how low? [x bunch of times]

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yeah

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

hello, how low? [x bunch of times]

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yeah

And I forget
Just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard
It was hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

hello, how low? [x bunch of times]

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yeah, a denial
A denial
A denial...

once you know the lyrics you can hear them...
then again you could hear almost every lyric you want in his mumbling,

Kurt Cobain even stated that the lyrics were gibberish. He was laughing during an interview that people were making it a hit and he was essentially singing about nothing.

Proof that a good chorus and good guitar riff can make any Rock song, forget the lyrics.

Also why do members keep thinking that we're supposed to discuss music stuff in here? Ziroc said music discussion belongs in General discussion as much as it does here.

I think that's a big part of the reason I don't like the new music. It's just a bunch of words stuck together. There's very little, or no meaning anymore.

"We all live in a yellow submarine"

"Take me down to paradise city where the grass is green and girls are pretty"

"Don't step on my blue suede shoes"

"We will, we will rock you"

etc

Music doesn't need to make sense, it needs to sound good.

Vengaboys, you know, the song where they stole the "Yo! Going to Barbedos..."-tune. People in Poland were singing it and not because it was so inspiring, but because the tune was so easy that everyone understood it. That's the winning formula of popmusic and that's why non-popmusic is only for the few who like it. I mean, non-pop music is exactly that: not popular with the majority of the commercial crowd.

And as for Nirvana, offcourse it's about nothing. But that was the point, that was the anger we kids had back then. The world was deteriorating into a materialistic one and we didn't like it one bit. Then suddenly Nirvana breaks in, names a song after a deodorant, jamming on the guitar with a voice that sounds like a distorted chainsaw from hell and YEAH! We had something that concurred with our anger, our sense of being lost, getting in touch with the rebel inside you and letting it out! Dude, we were going places And when he finally pulled a Cobain on himself, he already made a deep impression on whatever it was they did. Nirvana never was about the what, it was about the how. Just my 2cts.

I vaguely remember it being "Going To Ibiza"and the other one was something like ..."party... something" i don't remember, anyway...

I thought it was just angryness. and words that went together, like
"A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido"

just similar words, but i did think it was something to do with television (from the entertainment bit and guns and lights out etc) or possibly music. Or maybe just a comment on society, maybe Cobain accidentally commented on something in his gibberish, or maybe it just sounds good (which it deffinatly does).
