I've cleared Skull Castle, but couldn't open a lock in somebody's study. My thief/ninja is level 8 lockpicking, but couldn't make a dent in it. It says intricate and has 5 stars. What level will I need for that?
Also, I have some books [zenmaster tomes?] that my warlock with artifact level 8 can't ID. Will I have to pay to get them ID'd or should I keep pumping points/training into that skill? Another also, when should I stop doing sword, kung fu, ect training? Thanks |

It's a level 12 lock. You can open it with probably Traps and Locks skill of 9-10 and a high dexterity. Or, have your character with the highest T&L skill use a lockpick on it; make sure the lockpick + the T&L skill equals or exceeds 12.
Keep training Artifacts skill, as there are some artifacts later in the game that are way too expensive to ID at the temple! Also, keep putting points in Kung Fu to get more damage per hit. Sword, you can probably stop at around level 8 or 9; it just determines how likely you are to strike, not the damage you do. To increase damage on weapons, bless them in the temple with the "Artifact of Fiends" in your spellbook. -Sazerac |
