My party is stuck! I'm at the beholder/ghoul town for the unseeing eye quest. I came down through the pit of the faithless and can't go back up that way because it's too steep. The only other way up is through that hidden door that needs a key I guess. I thought maybe the ghoul town guy could help but unfortunately I killed him earlier. Am I stuck for good?

Hmmmm? Just cross the rope bridge on the right of Ghoul Town into the next part of the quest.

Did that and cleared out
Spoiler The beholder area. And there's a staircase to go back up but that's where the hidden locked door is(that I didn't get a key for).

If that fails, go to your baldur.ini file, insert Debug Mode=1 under the line [Program Options] ; save it, then reload. Go up the staircase again, and put your cursor on the other side of the door. Hit Ctrl-J. You might want to take out the Debug Mode=1 line after you do this, as cheating can be addictive. ![]() |

Thank you thank you thank you. The debug cheat worked like a charm, and I won't forget to take it off cuz I don't want to start cheating. Well...maybe.

Why does people cheat? I dont find it neccessary... I didn't even cheat when I didn't get the Holy Avenger after killing Frikkag(athough I was pissed) Cheating makes the game pointless... from my point of view.

Or if for some reason an item doesn`t spawn in it`s proper container; most common example are the Dryads Acorns in Chateau Irenicus, often they don`t spawn on Llyic`s body for some reason. In instances like that, cheating is justified. Another example i`ve heard of is working for Bodhi, Arkansis Gath will spawn with his short sword of certain doom; so, I would hack in 2 scrolls- timestop and shapechange; and enough equipment to reduce spellcasting time by as much as possible. Cast timestop, then shapechange: mindflayer; and suck out Gath`s brains. After that I would hack back in what I had on before, and dump the extra equipment. |

i cheat at times. Let's see... teh only time i cheat is when i get an awesome weapen (bone dagger +4) and have a thief with a duel weapon prof... i hack a second one (although i just got rid of the second one for another cool dagger i just found... so i guess it's justified in the end.
also, i use the teleport sometimes when i have to walk from one side of the district to the other (like the docks or bridge). If I need to get to teh armor maker on the far end of the docks, i will teleport half way and walk the rest. (and sometimes, if i'm getting walloped bad, i will use ctrl+r to heal myself. I know... i'm a naughty boy. but the one thing i don't do (anymore) is instant kill ctrl+y because you don't get any XP out of it and doesn't make it worth it. so yes, i cheat at times, but not as much as some ppl i've meet over BG2 online mp games. I see ppl with all their item slots completly filled up for a level 8 character. And their portraits are half full of those little icons telling you if you have some special defence on that character

Calm down Irenicus. One thing is solving YOUR problems by means of cheating - I agree, that's not good. Another thing is trying to overcome bugs in the game by means of the console. The later is necessary sometimes, otherwise, you cannot continue the game at all or you will play an unfair game. Examples:
1. It was reported repeatedly that the door from the Unseeing Eye lair is locked - even after killing Unseeing Eye. You cannot get out and you can only choose between starting from scratch and teleporting by means of the console. In this case, using the console is perfectly fair - the door is locked due to a bug in the game. It's not your fault. 2. A dragon does not drop its loot. This was also reported. Using a console and getting the important items from the loot is, again, a fair method because the dragon should aways drop its loot. Continuing without the loot means playing with a considerable disadvantage - your party loses some important and helpful item which you should have as a reward for killing the dragon. Another story would be if the dragon were supposed to drop its loot only sometimes.
