I was sitting here posting, and suddenly I heard something hitting against the window. It's still dark here at the moment, so I couldn't see what it was at first. I checked, and I saw something fluttering against the window. It looked like a hummingbird at first, though it was a little large for one of them. Then I looked closer, and realized what it was. It was a moth! The thing had a wingspan about six inches across! I've never seen one that big in my life. It was smacking itself against the window (like moths usually do when there is light) and it was so big I could hear it almost like someone smacking on my window.
No point to this thread, really, but I was just on and saw this thing. It's still hitting against the window right now as I type this. Well, I guess they really do grow them big in Texas... ![]()

I hate moths. In fact, I hate all hairy bugs. I've seen some biguns, but none as freakishly monstrous as the one you described. A good thing too as it probably would have chewed my head off as I leaned out the window to swat it with a rolled up newspaper
Yech! Cannot.... allow.... hairy bugs... to live.....

Don't forget : If you kill one, hundreds of friends will come to the funeral.

Hmmmm are you SURE it was a moth? I've seen something just that big as you say. It was in southern France and I thought it was a moth but after watching it for longer it turned out to be a bat (it was still dark, early in the morning around 6am). Small bats can look similar to moths flying around. Although maybe bats don't bang against windows since they have ultrasound.

I have seen a hard shell beetle that was that big before. Normally our hard shell beetles are no bigger than an inch. To see a six inch one in the area was kind of scary especially with the pinchers. I have probaly seen two in the area that size.

it was probably a lunar moth, they are endangered, so what ever you do, do not get caught killing them...take em out in the woods first

Ewww... I hate bugs and insects! I'm impressed that you didn't freak out, Nerull (as I would've done)
Sometimes I can't sleep because there's a baby moth fluttering around my room - they're disgusting! And you know those spiders with the teeny tiny bodies like grains of rice but huge legs? ARRGGGHHH! What kind of sick purpose do these bugs have? |

LOL Jaradu, well never move to Aussie or South America then. England is as safe as you'll get for bugs. I don't particularly like bugs either, but I usually end up being the one to shift them outside as everyone else likes them even less around here.

I can tolerate some bugs, but if they land anywhere on me, I swear to God I'll kill them. But yea, I've seen moths that big before, those things are freakin' creepy. They DO grow them big in Texas.
