You'll find the lord if you'll beat the final troll boss and two his minions in the cellar. To complete the quest you have go to the yard after you'll find Nalia,s father, then Nalia will thank you and give you a reward.

The dead body is him- he's dead. As long as you've killed the troll leader Torgal the quest is finished. Go outside and talk to Nalia. If Nalia's in your party go outside and she should start talking and the quest should finish.

I know this isn't on the original topic, but it still has to do with the DeArnise quest, and I could probably find my answers somewhere else in the forums if I could search, so please accept my apology if I'm posting something that you've all seen and answered before. And if you're very new to the game please don't read further, as I don't want to spoil a single thing for you.
I just recently re-started my game because I made a stupid mistake and didn't have a back-up save that went far back enough.. but I'm past where I was now and think I did something stupid again. Ok.. before I left the city, I did a ton of the city quests.. I figured, "why travel so far when you can butt-kick for goodness right here?" So eventually I wanted the flail of ages (just easier for me to kill trolls with by switching to that weapon than using up a mage spell or carrying around fire/acid arrows all the time), and then became Lady of the Keep so I left some of my stuff there, including the jewel for the Equalizer.. thinking it'd be safe. Still hoping. After helping Nalia I did a bunch of quests in Trademeet and then went back to check on the Keep and do my duties there. When I was done, I went to Linvail and we set sail for Brynnlaw. Um. I only checked on the Keep once. I can't get back there to check on it again (or can I? I'm in the Underdark now).. are they going to kick me out of the Keep and am I going to lose all my loot? I sure don't want to have to start over AGAIN because none of my saved games go back further than sometime after arriving in Brynnlaw. Any help here? A side note - ever since saving Annoy-men's butt at Saerk's house he hasn't said a darn word to me. Hasn't even picked me a flower or anything.. yeah, I did the romance with him the 2nd time, too - tried Kelsey but didn't like him at all, I just wanted to beat him up, so.. what can I say? I want my nookie and Annoy-men looks better in the sack than Kelsey did. Is the romance stuff over? I'm really getting tired of "Verily, I am pleased with the progress this ill-conceived group has made." And the dude says it in the middle of battles, after resurrecting Aerie when I forget to cast her protective spells, after learning I've lost my SOUL, etc. I think the only one who makes comments at the appropriate times is Lilarcor, really. Thanks for any friendly replies.. Eowyn "I married a Gnome" Jansen. <- Only you people would believe the teasing I got from a fellow BG2 player when he found out that's my married name. Sigh! P.S. Another question - I remember reading that Jan had hilarious dialogues with another NPC if you have them both in your party, obvioulsy.. who is it, Anomen? I would really like to have my Gnomish cousin in the party.. especially if he goes at it with Anomen. Any suggestions as to what other NPCs I should have along with Jan and Anomen, if it is indeed Anomen that Jan keeps trading insults with.. and since I don't want to drop any of my other NPCs later, I guess I'd have Yoshimo, too. Are Jan and Imoen similar in talents? There hasn't been much party dialog since Spellhold so I suppose I could drop him for Imoen.. not that she's a great contributor or anything. She's like a walking bottle of haste, still, I want her with me. So, how many questions did I have up there? 3 o4 4 huh? Ok, anyone who can answer any of the above, I thank you ahead of time. Happy 4th of July to all the Americans out there.. and happy day to the rest of the world. |

Not too sure what you're asking but the Keep is yours provided you go back from time to time to deal with whatever matters await your attention.
I think there is a time limit on this (not sure) but if you're in the Underdark the time limit is suspended. Bottom line: the keep should still be yours when you return.

I see from your signature that you, too, are a Ringer!
Thanks for the info - that's exactly what I wanted to know. When I went to Brynnlaw I didn't know I wouldn't be coming back to Athkatla right after invading Spellhold.. and since this is the farthest I've ever been in the game, I have no idea when I'll be back. It's good to know my Keep is still mine while I'm in the Underdark. Whew! |

As for some of your questions, Jan has funny comments with a lot of npcs lol i would say pick him up if u want. as for the other stuff SPOILER
* * * * * -The keep will stay yours -youll be back home soon -youll have all the items you left in your keep as long as you keep your attendents happy and you left your items in some safe spot, such as a barrel, chest, table, etc. (just about anywhere but the floor) and happy 4th of july to you too

I have already went as far as the underdark 3 times with 3 diferent parties... Garantee that everything is still yours. After helping the silverdragon in the underdark you come back to the normal area map.
Jan has, by himself fairly funny lines, being in high spirits as he usualy is. The best dialogues I had were with Jan and Edwin (the red wizard - he hates Jan) and Jan and Minsk (these two are my favorite NPC´s). Jan and Imoen are quite different (she is Dual class, he is multiclass) He is much better thief and much worse spellcaster than her. He advances as a thief during the game, as Imoen don´t |
