Warning this trailer contains violent imagery

http://www.citizensunited-interactive.org/c41.11/
Looks like a MUCH more brutal response to Farenheit 9/11 then Farehype, I can imagine the fuss that's going to made about this movie.... Opinions?

So, the answer to Moore's flik (which I haven't seen, so no opinion), which was repeatedly assaulted with allegations of being loose with facts and the like (which started well before it was available for viewing), is to do what looks like the same? You could argue attacking the style with a similar style, and of course I haven't seen either to make a valid judgement.

Talking about Saddam and showing Taliban?
Moving from terror to tyranny? What?
Clinton/Kerry so wrong, Bush so right?
And is security all we're voting about?

Those images of torture make me tear up, particularly because I work with survivors of politically motivated torture. It still doesn't make me lose sight of the loose and strange assortment of images designed to make me buy into that description of a series of events and to make a seemingly obvious vote. This all has way too much missing subtext to be swallowed in this form for me.

Emotional ploys aside, "The temperature at which the brain begins to die" is absurd. Don't agree with us? Must be braindead, like some silly statements by angry protesters. From the preview, it looks more like they're saying "You don't have to think. Just make a flash value-judgement, listen to your emotions, and you'll know what's important." If that's the case, it fits the bill of plain ole propaganda in a relatively new format. Again, not only am I assuming meaning, but I haven't seen it, so here's your grain of salt. --> `

The last audio statement I'm more inclined to agree with than any of the other hazy-context images and sound bites, if laughter belies agreement. Are we supposed to be angry with those who protest? Think they're stupid if we don't agree? I hope I don't end up watching this filth to get an answer to the ambiguities.

Propaganda is more informative (about the people who made it) well after the need for the propaganda has passed. I can't wait to watch these two films in 20 years for a clearer perspective.

Finally (being the first American [maybe] to post here), even if this is a great, well researched documentary, if Americans see it as a copycat product, I don't think it'll sell as well as the 'original'.

Citizens United is about as non-partisan as, say, the Swift-Boat Vets or MoveOn, in case there was any doubt.

http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.pht...itizens_United

http://www.citizensunited.org/index.html

Note that they're part of the group that was trying to restrict distribution of Farenheit 9/11, and that Bossie (foil to Moore) is actually its president.

They're also known for support of the complete withdrawal of the US from the UN, boycotting France and Germany, "exposing corruption in the Clinton administration", while offering complete support for Bush, removing judges who voted for removing "Under god" from the Pledge of Allegiance, and more. Know what you're supporting if you're giving them money.

They were established as non-partisan and non-profit, neither of which seem currently true (assuming film and DVD revenues are going to them).

And for an apparently well funded non-profit dedicated to education and research, some of their policy papers are just plain lazy academically, and none of them offer any kind of research. Nothing new is learned, only opinions proffered. They take the research of others and tack conclusions to the end. So they're more like report-reports. They've been too busy making a movie and Pro-Bush/anti-Kerry commercials I guess.

*shrugs* Another movie which to speak to your heart and not your intellect.

I better find cover so I don't get hit by the barrage of mud flying through the air.

I thought it was interesting. I especially love how they make the protesters look like the idiots they are.

So what you are saying (if I am reading you right) is that they are not simply conservative but well out there on the rabid right wing fringes with only the most tenuous grasp on reality? They sound a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

So it would appear Davros. Not the mushy kind of Republican, like John McCain or Rudy Guiliani, but the kind that would invite Rush Limbaugh to their family picnic (which would indeed be wanting for sandwiches). And he might feel liberal there . I don't know how well these folks are known outside of the US, but insert your own favorite moderate conservative and radical conservative.

And you don't have to take my word for it; follow the linky-brick road.

I'm supporting the Protist/Cyanobacteria ticket.
