I always used to play Wild Mage. Now im goin to play from the start with a friend over LAN. We both want to play Wild MAge, so one of us need to play something else.
So finally my question what's the best fighter class and why?

IMO, the Cavalier is the supreme winner when it comes to the best Fighter.
He may only have 2 profs in each proficiency-slot, but he have very good abilities, he has access to a few Priest-spells, and can wield the most powerful sword in the game. He should fit well with a Wild Mage. ![]() |

I'm with Exxon, I think a Cavalier is the best fighter-type out there. He has great resistances as well as the other added bonuses my chivalric friend above described.

Want a real fighter??
A berserker warrior is the true answer. He's no. 1 in close combat. Make him enrage and add +2 in everything. [ 05-19-2002, 11:09 AM: Message edited by: Jan ] |

Well i would say if it is just you two and you have no cleric to heal you after you run into traps this will save you alot of money on potions.
Make a half orc swashbuckler. With the half orc's Strength and Constitution bonuses (19) he's great, and he can get 18 Dexterity. Plus the swashy has good ranged combat for fighting of small things back with the mage so as not to risk much damage from melee fighters. He also gets the following bonuses in his class ~A bonus -1 to AC and an additional -1 every five levels there after and with ToB, maxed out levels, and 18 dex that gives him a negative base AC, combine that with Shadow Dragon Scale armor and some other AC boosting items and your almost unhitable ~+1 to hit and damage every five levels, combine that with some katanas, long swords, or a short bow and you deal major damage ~Can specialize in all theif weapons ~Can get 3 proficiency slots in two weapon style and the only disadvantage is they can't backstab but you can't do that with a fighter anyway (except stalker) So you basicly have a ranger with thief hit dice, armor, and weapons but signifigant AC bonuses and can use all theif abilities except backstab. BTW If you haven't notest Swashbuckler is my favorite class

But another good class which I just thought of, is the Blade. That's a Bard-kit who have expertised themselves in fighting. They can use both Offensive and Defensive spin, which both is great abilities. So he is also a very good Fighter-class. Especially if you make him Half-Elven, and go all the way through ToB with him. ![]() But then again, he isnt as good as the Cavalier. |

This seems to be a good question and we all might have an answer (well we all think we have). The best fighter??? I just think the berserker fighter is the best but what kind of tactic do you use?? Maybe a paladin is the best choice for you.

Well, monks are pretty awesome...granted they have low HP and are hard to do in the beginning, but by the end they can have 100%+ magic resistance (with items), and have rediculous attacking abilities.
