I've just decided to move into the Tel Aruhn tower because I really love the scenery and it's a nice little island. I note that in the Telvanni house rules it says that you advance by assasination with no reprisals if you're successful. I've killed everybody in the upper tower including the Dremora bodyguards and received no warning, so I know they're not game-critical characters.

I'm just wondering if anyone can remember if they are necessary for the House Telvanni quests? At the moment I'm only a low-ranking member so it will take me a while to find out for myself and I don't want to have to reload too much back in time.

Thanks in advance

Hmm, isn't the Telvanni Big Kahuna in Tel Aruhn Archmagister Gothren, the one with the two Dremora bodyguards? If so, you need to kill him to rise to the position of Archmagister yourself, should you desire to do so. I don't know if killing him prematurely will botch that quest, but I wouldn't take that risk if I were you. Additionally, one or two of his lackeys may be carrying an item which you need to get in a quest for one of the other Telvanni magi, so be careful when selling off their equipment.

EDIT: BTW, you'll be getting your very own Telvanni Tower when you reach a high enough rank. Granted, that thing is in a very inconvenient spot, but there's no real need of taking an existing Tower by force just because you like the view. Although on the other hand such a thing does seem to fit in with the Telvanni general ethics, so... *shrug*

Ah thanks, that was just the information I was looking for. I shall hold off in that case. And yes, I knew about the stronghold, but I love the water and the beach etc whereas IIRC the site for the tower is on the mainland somewhere.

Thanks for the quick response
