I'm in the with the "talking" bookshelf. Went downstairs killed some ghouls etc. The door is locked and I have no key! Where can I find the key? Suspecting to find the missing guard where as well, and maybe the entrance to meldanan (or whatshisname) estate as well.

Thanks a lot, any good tips on what else to do in blackwater, am kind of stuck, no idea what to do. Can't get into Meldanan's house, can't find the missing guard etc.

try talking to everybody you see. some of them will give you quest or let you inside the house.

For all these types of games, it's a good idea to talk to anyone with a name. They were given a name for a reason. They may be involved in some obscure side quest, or they may be important to the main quest.
