Hello to all, id like to post a couple of ideas of Warhammers I thought up as well as the combat abilites for you to all judge, comment on and flame if you must

I think hammers are realy underated, there arn't enough decent hammers in the game so I decided in all my wisdom to create a few.

And here they are:

Hammer of Quakes
This hammer was forged by the Dwarves for the Cleric Damion Rheinhorn a priest of Helm. Damion himself used the hammer with great skill as he fought his was through goblins and orcs that were hindering a neighbouring town. The hammer itself is a powerful instrument of Dwarven craftsmanship and imbues the wielder with a protection from evil and fire resistance, also the hammer has the ability to make an earthquake once per day by pounding the hammer onto the ground. Due to the size of the weapon only the strong can wield it.

STATISTICS:

Special Abilities: 20% Fire Resistance, Constant Protection from Evil,
Cast priest spell Earthquake x1 day
Damage: 1D10+5, 25% chance of knocking back the enemy
THAC0 Bonus: +5 Bonus
Damage Type: Crushing
Weapon Type: 2-Handed Warhammer
Useable By:
Must have Strength of 18 to use
Clerics
Fighters
Rangers

I theroy this would be a great hammer but I'm sure there would be a problem with making the hammer 2-handed?

Heres the next one:

Grimmer
This hammer is a perfectly good example of Orcish craftsmanship in both name and looks, the hammer itself looks like a perfectly normal Warhammer but has some magical powers imbued in it by an Orc shaman for the Orcish warrior priest Dazza Greentoe for his journey to Baldurs Gate.

STATISTICS:

Damage: 2D8+1D6 Fire Damage
THAC0: +3 Bonus
Damage Type: Crushing
Weapon Type: 1-Handed Warhammer
Useable By:
Orcs only
Clerics
Fighters

I'm not sure why I made this, probibly because I like to play an Orc as my NPC mostly, but yeah thats my weapons and please....be nice...

Create a scenerio to justify the obtainment of these weapons, and I see no reason not to implement them into the game.

I like your suggestions for additional hammers, but am curious why you claim the hammer is underrated in SOA. I think Crom Faeyr is arguably the most powerful weapon in SOA (no TOB or mods installed). I realize it may take awhile to assemble all the components, but the gain is well worth the wait.

there are quite a few good hammers in BG2...for example Crom Faeyr, Hammer of Thunderbolts, Aegis Fang and Dwarven Thrower. most of them just dont look too good when compared to some of the uber-weapons in the game. I wouldnt mind a few better Bastard Swords though, since there is only one really usable bastard sword, and it comes with ToB and is class restricted...

The Hammer of Quakes is too powerful for SoA--it might fit better in ToB, and then only in comparison to Ravager & Foebane. There's also the fact that the game engine won't let you mess with the way that certain weapons are 1-handed or 2-handed, because the computer doesn't know what to make the paperdoll look like. If you try to make, for example, a Pistol Crossbow, the game will crash. (The only exception is Axes, since you could simply have them use the Halberd paperdoll.)

I like Grimmer though, because it's about flippin' time that somebody gave the Half-Orcs some attention. It's base damage of 2D8 is way too high, though: a 2-Handed Sword only does 1D10. Tone that down and add a good Fire theme to the Description (to explain that much Fire damage with every hit) and it's great.

Some things are fudgeable Two-handed hammer - make one handed, disable offhand while equipped.

I cater for all tastes

Relentless (Bastard Sword +3)

'Relentless' was a long sword created by the human warrior Daniel for tearing through whole armies to get at a single opponent. Despite being completely insane, Daniel had a certain extent of intellegence and strength at his disposal and he blackmailed a powerful lich to create the sword for him. Enemies of Daniel would be taken by surprise as he descended upon them like a lightning storm, his power, defenses and endurance seeming beyond normal. 'Relentless' would dish out more than just the normal type of damage a sword does, tearing through even enchanted armour in a matter of seconds. Nothing seemed to harm Daniel--his wounds healed almost as soon as he was hit. Wizards would eventually flee in terror, their magic rendered useless by the sword's aura. For a short time Daniel was basically invincible, until the sword was stolen from him by an unknown thief. It is not known whether Daniel caught the thief or not, but two things are for certain: One, he never recovered the sword; And two, he must be very, very angry.

STATISTICS:

Special Abilities: 20% Magic Resistance, 10% Resistance to all types of Damage
Damage: 1D8+4 +2 Cold Damage, +2 Fire Damage
THAC0 Bonus: +3 Bonus
Damage Type: Slashing
Weapon Type: 1-Handed Sword
Not Useable By:
Clerics
Theives
Druids
Mages

Any thoughts?
