I just got the holy avenger last night, and I wanted to know if it's dispel magic ability had a save, if it dispels ALL magics on a target, and if it is dependent at all on the character weilding it.

A Paladin must wield it. Yes it dispel`s everything unless somebody has Protection From Magical Weapons on itself.

Actually, you need a patch for the correct dispel, I believe. Otherwise, it dispels as a level 1 spell (which, in BG2, does next to nothing.)

Hahaa! My party was triumphant against the former holder of the Avenger! A fierce battle ensued... And all of it was done by Imoen, my stout mage friend!

A Lower Resistance here... A Greater Malison there...

Yes! All the show you have been waiting for!

And then, the finale... finger of death... and KABOOM! .... Toasty meat!!

Yep FoD is very good spell. Especially when it comes to those ugly Umber Hulks. Edit:level up!

I find that Cloudkill is better to use for killing Umber Hulks than using FOD. Just one hit from Cloudkill can kill a tightly packed of Umber hulks... Worked for me

Finger of Death, Symbol of Death, Power Word: Kill... Have you noticed that all theese are necromantic spells? That's why I am a Drow Necromancer. All the power compressed into my avatar... Speak of spells no more, there is no better dispatcher than Banshees Wail!

Which patch is that? (I have all the standard patches, the ToBfixpack, and the ease of use mod)

I usually get it as part of the Item Upgrade mod. I think Baldurdash has a fix for it too.
