Sunglass Man Trouble compiling DC

I swear that I've had more trouble throughout the years getting this thing to compile. For those that don't know, my main hard drive died over the holidays, so I lost a lot of stuff, including VS C++ 6. Now, I've installed VS C++ 6 on my Server 2003 box. I've gone through all of the various threads at the Yahoo group, looked at the wiki (that's right I'm one of the literally 3 people that have ever looked at it) and at emails. It's a no go. But, I'm close. CDX and GPDL compile just fine, UAFWin and UAFWinEd each return 6 errors, all linking errors. I'm using the current version of the code from the CVS, which is what I was using just fine before I had to re-install. Any thoughts? LurchBrick? Tarlanon? Richard? Paul? John? Ringo? I actually feel like I'm close to resolving the backstabbing issue...(see my post to Yahoo groups) and it would be a bit ironic if at the very time I figure out how to wipe out a couple of bugs, that I lose the ability to compile and test my solutions. Don't ya think?

So do I.

I found a programmer that would switch DC from MFCs to an open library of our choice (withing reason) for a mere $1500 to do it by the end of the year, or $2000 bucks to do it by summer. He then told me that I should be able to learn enough of C++ to do it myself by summer if take a couple of classes or buy a good book and stick to it. Let's see...there was no change in the couch and I have $1.48 in the penny bowl...I guess I better look into finding a good book. This does offer hope that several of us being self-taught could maybe port DC by the end of the year if we all worked at it.

Or, DC3D?

I just want to be able to cast delayed blast fireballs and have golems who can't be hit by normal weapons and lycanthropes that can be hit by silver weapons for extra damage and monsters that can cast spells... Is that so wrong?
