Shocked Wake up, sleepyheads!

From Yahoo Weird News...

Authorities: Burglar wakes men with spice rub

FRESNO, Calif. - Authorities say they've arrested a man who broke into the home of two California farmworkers, stole money, rubbed one with spices and whacked the other with a sausage before fleeing.

Fresno County sheriff's Lt. Ian Burrimond says 22-year-old Antonio Vasquez was found hiding in a field wearing only a T-shirt, boxers and socks after the Saturday morning attack.

He says deputies arrested Vasquez after finding a wallet containing his ID in the ransacked house.

The farmworkers told deputies the suspect woke them Saturday morning by rubbing spices on one of them and smacking the other with an 8-inch sausage.

Burrimond says money allegedly stolen was recovered.

Ummm.... rubbing their feet and smacking one with an 8-inch sausage? I just don't know how Vasquez explains what he was thinking...

That...I just...How in the...

Hands down the oddest newsbit I've heard in a while. What kind of a robber gets an idea to smack the sleeping residents with a sausage? Oh, and the following from the article was also worth a laugh..

Burrimond said the money was recovered, but that the piece of sausage used in the attack was discarded by the suspect and eaten by a dog.

"That's right, the dog ate the weapon," Burrimond said.

"I tell you, this was one weird case."

Man suspected of sausage and spice attack set free

SANGER, Calif. - A man suspected of breaking into the home of two California farmworkers, rubbing spices into the face of one man and smacking another with an 8-inch sausage has been set free.

Prosecutors say they do not have enough evidence to file criminal charges against 21-year-old Antonio Vasquez. He was released from Fresno County Jail on Tuesday.

Sheriff's Lt. Ian Burrimond says Vasquez was found hiding in a field wearing only a T-shirt, boxers and socks after the Saturday morning attack. Vasquez is also accused of stealing $900 from the home.

There is no listed phone number for Vasquez.

I guess CSI: Fresno hasn't taken off yet, or they would have found epithelials in the sausage that matched the perp...
