I hear that in Louisville, KY they felt it (Where I used to live)... A 5.4 isn't that bad, BUT... if its a precursor event? I hope not...
The Louisville newspaper the Courier Journal said experts believe in 50 years (this was in 1989) the area will have an 8.0... That fault has been really quiet for 100 years now... Anyway, anyone feel it? Wouldn't wanna be in the St. Louis Arch during one of those! ![]() |

Nope, not here in the Lexington Area...
Well, Richmond, KY area, but still, I bet instruments could get readings here...just not me while asleep. That's news to me...even an earthquake can't wake me up.

No worries, in 1986 or 87, there was a 3.8 or something near LOU, and I was sitting in a friends car, and the car was sliding left to right slightly.. didn't even THINK of an earthquake at the time..
![]() BTW, you can listen to 84whas.com AM radio from Louisville.. I only check it during stuff like this, and the massive Tornadoes that hit KY a few weeks ago! That was crazy.. One hit less that a MILE from my old house--it was a weak F0 though.. some signs torn.. scary. Yeah, these small quakes can be felt up there farther away because of the harder earth and rock (shale too). I just hope its not the beginnings of something bad. If an 8.0 hit around there, the sears tower would probably collapse, the St. Louis arch would fall... oh boy.. I keep hoping it never happens. ![]() My sister is south of ya in Nicholasville BTW... nice and quite out there. ![]() |

Some man called in to the Lexington radio news, and said he "got up to answer the door" when he felt the earthquake...

You can find out more info from the USGS here
A map created by the "Did you feel it?" site shows where people reported feeling shaking map Living out here in CA, I get to report data to the "Did you feel it?" site fairly often. If you're in the Midwest, and felt the quake, why not report it ?
