Can I have both Edwin and Minsc in my party? I've really got some good ideas for a party but they're heavily dependent on whether or not they can both be in my party.... Has anybody done this and can they tell me exactly how? Thanks!

It is important to remember that Minsc is very good while Edwin is very evil. Plus Edwin is out to kill Dynaheir the mage who is in Minsc's charge. Also, it is important to remember that ther higher your reputation the less and less pleased Edwin will become. If you get too high (check your manual) he'll leave. Somewhere along the line these two will clash BIG TIME.

I'm going to try to keep my reputation somewhere between 8 and 15 at all times just to keep everybody at least moderately happy so that shouldn't be any particular problem. My only concern is, if I go to the Gnoll Stronghold and try to either kill or save Dynaheir, will the other leave my party. I think it's more likely that Minsc will stay if Dynaheir is dead than Edwin staying if Dynaheir is in the party but I'm really not sure.

The way people react to you in town depends on your reputation as well, and even the store owners will give discounts of their items to extremely high reps. and charge more for lower ones. That is also in your manual of instruction.

I would suggest getting Minsc, getting Dynaheir, then going back for Edwin. Then if you don't want Dynaheir in your party, try getting her killed off, trhen booting her. I dunno if this will work, but it's worth a try.

Yeah, that should work. Killing Dynaheir then kicking her out doesn't make Minsc leave and it might allow Edwin to join.

Well, I already have Edwin and Minsc in my party and I was going to wait for word from everybody here before proceeding further and I had my Auto-Save before I had them but then somebody else decided to play which eliminated my Auto-Save and now leaves me stuck with both Edwin and Minsc and not sure what to do. Can I keep both Edwin and Minsc in any way? I'd rather not get Dynaheir but if I have to.....

The thing is that if Dynaheir is alive and Minsc insists that you go get her, you better go get her or he'll eventually go beserk. I had Edwin join right after I got Minsc and we went to get Dynaheir. When we finally did he insisted that we kill her. I can't remember all the details because it has been so long ago but a battle did ensue and I killed Edwin. I can't say, however, that the same outcome will happen for you.

Jafin, you will have to go to Gnoll Stronghold and resque Dynaheir, otherwise Minsc leaves party. The problem is that you cannot resque her if there is Edwin in your party - he will request to kill the witch or will try to kill her by himself.
If you remember, I had the same problem, and had to let Edwin kill Dynaheir. Now I have Edwin and Minsc both in my party - Minsc will join you gladly after Dynaheir is dead. Actually he is not even looking upset...
Anyway, you can keep Edwin and Minsc in your party without problem. Basically the only problem was the late Dynaheir...

Thank you all so much for your help! Tananda, I think I'll take your method, it sounds like the best way to go. This has gotta be the hardest combination of two characters to get in your party, except maybe Dynaheir and Edwin LOL!!! It really was crucial that I get those two together for my party makeup to work. I was thinking of this party, I thought it might be interesting:

Me (Mage/Thief)
Minsc
Ajantis
Edwin
Xan
Yeslick

Does this sound good at all? I was thinking it might be fun because it has very strong power in both martial and magical arts. It also has the ever essential Cleric and Thief positions taken care of as well.

Thanks again for the help!

-Jafin

P.S. - Is it actually even POSSIBLE to get both Edwin and Dynaheir in your party without using some sort of editor? Maybe if you saved Dynaheir and then got Edwin????
