I was thinking about the ludricrous amounts of gold high level characters tend to accumulate, even while freely purchasing and supplying gear for new players, when it suddenly struck me as peculiar that no one seems to be profiting from the teleport system. True, an influx of adventurers and traders may benefit denizens of the Port of Shadow, but why would they not charge a fee for leaving Skullport? I suggest, if not charging for all teleports, charging at least 1,000 gold per dungeon level; after all, teleportation is a valuable service for loot laden adventurers. Would it be non-trivial to modify the teleport code to auto deduct a transport fee? Just think of the stones as reusable metro-cards.
![]() A more complex method could be having the stones lose a number of charges per use and adding recharge services to the merchant repertoire. |
