It has been a while, but are you sure there are 3? I remember two, a yellow one and a orangish one. I foolishly draggged those things around for 3 chapters before realizing that they could not be sold anywhere.

Terl got it right. There are two Sun Gems, and three parts of the Symbol. ¨Looks like you got them both, Calsiumus.

I think the confusion is because there are three "shadow doors" that require sun gems to open. One of them can be bypassed, so you only need the two gems that are available.

How'd you do that???! I thought those things were expended when you used them on the shadow doors.

No, I got them. I think that they were required to be put some place to do their purpose, or something. Anyhow, I went back and get them. I had the gems, the Sun-pendant thing and the shadow stone (which did not work again when I went back after the lizard.
I would prefer it if things like these items and keys would disappear once used. It would make things easier.

Another odd thing is that they fit in the gem bag. None of the other special purpose gems I encountered would do that.

It's true, I lugged them around myself thinking that they might be valuable. Of course, like the "Flail of Ages", they can't be sold, so I carried them around for nothing

There is no third gem, there are three shadow doors and two gems.
