Man forced to marry a goat....

Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.

"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up".

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper.

Um, if he was doing the nasty with the goat in the first place, is this really a punishment?

I like the dowry idea though.

Punisment? Why punish him? Now as he has a goat of his own he'll stay away from other peoples goats. And if he doesn't, they can always punish him later.

Well, I'm guessing that the point of the exercise is public humiliation. Unless he doesn't care, in which case it'll backfire spectacularly.

Let's just hope he doesn't force the goat into signing one of those wedding contracts like that bloke in the other thread
