Speaking of her, apparently one of my Lecturers have told me that the show "Commander and Chief" being shown in the US was actually a marketing gimick to determine how Americans would like to watch a female president running the show. A tv show would assess the popularity on how people would percieve how a Female president would be accepted.

Yes they did - and this is a good thing for our current government. It is always better for the people when the Congress and White House are controlled by opposing parties. That way, there has to be discussion, debates and compromise on issues rather than the President receiving rubber-stamped carte' blanche for his policies. This is true regardless of which party the President belongs to.

As for Hillary running for President in 2008, I think America IS getting closer to accepting the concept of a female President. My good buddy CP - who is a Political Science major and devout follower of politics - insists Hillary WON'T be the Democratic Nominee and complains she only gets mentioned because the Repugs are still "obsessed" with the Clinton era.

While CP certainly knows more about politics than I do (and follows them much more closely than I ever will), I see either Hillary or Obama (Senator from Ohio, IIRC) as being the front-runners to represent the Democrats in 2008. If they don't get the Presidential nod, I believe one of them will almost certainly be the VP Candidate.

Getting back on topic of "The Vote", I believe it is one of the greatest privileges we have in this country. Every single citizen can have an impact and a voice in who represents us and who runs the country. It's no secret that I'm a hardcore, fundamentalist conservative - but I am registered as Independent instead of Republican. And I vote for individuals rather than party candidates.

I have to admit I even surprised myself last Tuesday. As I reviewed the choices I had made, I realized that fully 3/4 of the votes I cast were for Democrats. But I also realized these were the individuals I wanted to represent my interests on the local, state and federal level and I had no regrets in the choices made.
