Anyone from LA here? I'm moving back for the summer for work...

Anyone here from Los Angeles? I've gotten an internship in Cali for the summer, at the City of Industry in east LA (past Pasadena but before Pomona, north of Irvine). I'll be relocating next week but I've been having problems getting a sublet for such a short time - most places want a minimum of 3months but my internship is only six weeks.

So I've been checking www.sublet.com and www.craigslist.com to see if there are short term leases available - most of the daily rate, furnished ones are frightfully expensive ($90-$120 a day) as they're mainly corporate housing. I did find a couple in Koreatown and in Hollywood which are reasonable ($800/month). Thing is, I don't know what K-town and Hollywood are like these days - Hollywood was dumpy when I was last in LA. I looked at Santa Monica and Venice, but it would take me an hour to travel the 20miles I need to travel to get to work with LA traffic. K-Town and Hollywood would be better from a travel POV, but I don't know how dodgy they are these days. Anyone know? I don't know if we have anyone from LA here...
