More than just getting songs you hear stuck in your head, does music play in your mind at all hours you are not concentrating on other things?

It does mine and Rex says it is a strange thing because he nevers "hears" music unless he literally hears music.
I can't always recognize what music it is that goes through my head all the time because it is always different and does not always have lyrics but I do enjoy the fact that it does.

I was very touched by Gary Oldham's dialogue in "My Immortal Beloved" when he described the way that listening to music allows the listener into the mind of the composer, that the music is an extension of the composer's emotions at the time it was written. That seemed to validate somehow that the music that plays in my mind is there for a reason.

Am I nuts?

Of course you are not nuts, Moni! Its better than having non-stop dialogue racing through your skull, as I do!

It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury...What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet? Think how much energy would be gathered! Ha, ha, ha. And at the center of that injury, wil be me. All that boundless energy will be mine. By merging with the energy of the Planet, I will be come a new life form, a new existence. Melding with the Planet, I will cease to exist as I am now. Only to be reborn as a 'God' to rule over every living soul.

That happens to me occasionally - there were one or two really WEIRD occasions where I could've sworn I really HEARD music that was playing very very softly... I'd never heard the melody before, but there COULDN'T have been music playing. I guess my imagination was playing tricks on me. Is that what you mean, Moni?

Me too, Moni. Mostly, it tends to be one piece of music, repeated over and over. It's hideous when it's a TV commercial jingle, but most of the time it's a piece of music I like.

One interesting thing that's happened several times is that I'll be in the house, by myself, that soundtrack going on in my head, and I'll turn on the radio, which is playing that exact song at the same part that my "brain" was on. Weird, huh? Hmmm, need to check those dental fillings again...

My "soundtrack" is always music I've heard before. I think it works differently for the composer-types. I had this conversation with a friend of mine -- we were both playing piano or keyboard in different bands in a talent show in the military at the time -- and he was extremely talented. He could just go off on tangents and improvise like crazy. When I asked him how he did it (I'm not good enough to improvise), he said that he just always heard the music in his head and it was just begging to come out. He thought all of us musical-types were like that, but I suspect it's only the really good musicians or natural composers that have original music just bursting out of their heads all the time.

I know what you mean. In an idle moment during a car journey, or when I am sitting at my keyboard thinking about the next passage I am going to type, little ditties will start to go off in my head. These are tunes that I imagine and that fit my mood at the time, but they aren't anything I've ever heard before. I guess that's how some composers get their original ideas, by elaborating on these sparks and feelings.

That's one of the great frustrations in my life, because I have no musical aptitude, so if I make any attempt to put the music I'm imagining into something tangible it all goes horribly wrong and seems to slip away kinda like a forgotten dream.

It seems especially intense when I'm in solitude, like out walking on Dartmoor (a huge expanse of wild moor land, literally on my doorstep), but like you say it's sort of always there.

So, no, I don't think you're nuts at all Moni.

I look on it as a gift.
