Most important word you need to know is "kurac". with that you'll go a long way.

Seriously, i don't think you'll find a reliable source for free. I hope i'm wrong, but i'm afraid any half decent educational program doesn't come free.

This is a useful program, i've seen several other versions of it from other European languages, and it's simple to use and reliable.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...594870-3593425

Unfortunately as you can see, it's not free.

Hmm... a software to learn Croatian? I never needed one, so I can't say
One thing to do is to go out, buy the same book in English and Croatian and read them at the same time. One of my friends learned spanish that way, through Tolkien(!?). So good luck because, as I've heard, Croatian is one of the more complicated languages of the world. Don't quote me on that one tho. If you ever find something difficult, PM me, ok?
And johnny makes the saying "The first words you learn of any language are profanities" very true

Is that how you spell it ? I once was at a Croats place and that's what he gave me to drink, it's pronounced Slybowytz right ? Anyway, he expected me to fall under the table after one or two glasses, but of course he had never met me before, otherwise he would have known it was going to cost him his entire stock. Strange....i never got invited again.

Yeah, that's how you spell it. And what a shock of you not being invited again.
