Just bought the new X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse and tried to install it on my PC. Everything worked fine until I put in CD3 during installation. As soon as I put the 3rd disc in, my PC rebooted - and would NOT restart! I had the option to Restart Normal, but the PC went through the entire reboot cycle again when I tried. I didn't want to reboot and start in Safe Mode, so I just removed the CD and decided to try again later.

A few hours later I tried again and got the same results.

I purchased the game off eBay, but it was a (supposedly) brand-new, factory-sealed copy of the game.

Any ideas as to why the 3rd disc is causing my PC to reboot?

Cerek, can you explore it at all, or does the computer just reboot the moment the cd drawer is closed?

Cerek, long time no see. And wasn't your name Cerek the Barbarian? Anyways, have you tried it on a different system?

Sounds like you need a techy. Hive, where are you?

It's a great game, Cerek. Already on my second run through of it. You'll enjoy it if you manage to get it to work.

I had a lot of trouble with the third cd too... but I think the incidents are completely unrelated as mine was a bit scratchy.

Good luck with the installation mate. Sorry I couldn't be of assistance, but you do have my sympathies. I know exactly how aggrivating it can be buying a new game and being excited about it, only to find that it will not bloody install for you.

Jeez, i'm here, i'm here

Yeah, as Elif said, does this only happen when the the game is installing and the third CD is inserted?

I have seen similar problems with drives but never when the user is just installing something...

Thanks for all the replies. The answers to your questions are....

1) No, I cannot explore CD3 at all.
2) Yes, it reboots immediately. As soon as the CD is inserted.
3) There are no scratches on the CD.
4) My other system is not working right now (some minor glitch, but I can't fix it). So I can't try it on another machine.
5) My original ID was Cerek the Barbaric (it rhymes). Kudos to Shadowhound for remembering.
6) My ID was never "Cerek the Barbarian", but I DID have a cool-looking barbarian sig created especially for me by Sazerac.

One other suggestion I received on another board was that the video card might not be compatible, but I have a GeForce card and DirectX 9 (which the game requires), so that shouldn't be the problem.

Damn thats a wierd one, and I will definantly see what I can dig up.

But I highly doubt that it has anything to do with your video card....
