Everytime I log on the folder "Logs" is on my desktop.

Inside this is cpu.log

This is what it says, if it's anything that I should remove just tell me and I'll edit

7/27 10:06:26.859 vendor: 1
7/27 10:06:26.859 features: 00000017
7/27 10:06:26.859 sockets: 1
7/27 10:06:26.859 cores: 1
7/27 10:06:26.859 processors: 1
7/27 10:06:26.859 chip = GenuineIntel
7/27 10:06:26.859 standard (2): 1b=00010809 1d=bfebfbff 4a=00000000
7/27 10:06:26.859 extended (4): 1c=00000000 1d=00000000 4a=20342029 8c=00000000

Even if I delete it, it comes back when I reboot (I think, haven't noticed a pattern).

I've scanned using Norton, AVG, and Spyware Doctor, they all found nothing.

Some games create log files in unusual places outside of the game's dir.

I think World of Warcraft has this issue - a quick browse of the 'Net found that you can solve it by modifying the game shortcut and adding the game directory to the "start in" field.

Thanks for the help, hopefully that'll work, but if not I guess I can live with it since it's only WoW.

This appears to be a bootlog from a source code you gave permission to allow. It will do it every boot until told not to. It appears to be aimed at or from Intel, or possibly PC builder to check for cpu identity..

What brand(name) pc do you have?
What OS?

Normally a bootlog to desktop is set as deafult when a boot problem or bootlog request is made. Also, from some versions of M$Win, if altering your startup, or from safe mode it will duplicate to normal desktop.

The reason it re-appears is at some point you gave it permission. Reply back with your info and we can help you eliminate the pesky log.

It was created from the latest WoW patch you downloaded. Suppposedly, it is there to prevent people from hacking WoW.

Ok, can you shed some light on the situation please.
The posted log is clearly showing the following info:
1. vendor numeric id = 1 (intel)
2. features on chip = 17 (cpu, must be an intel P4 with HTT)
3. sockets = 1 (cpu)
4. cores = 1 (cpu again)
5. processors = 1 (realative to above lines)
6. chip = GenuineIntel (direct read from cpu)
7. standard (2) = (on chip L1 and L2 memory size and location)
8. extended (4)= (main memory size and location relative to cpu)

Why in the 9hells would a game need to know this? Why would said game need this in a log?

This looks to me from my standpoint, a direct cpu boot read. Why? Who else gets to see it? Are we facing yet another play on the cpuid lawsuit?

IMO This should not be happening!
Not really much I can shed light on. All I know is that that folder was created for everyone who Downloaded the latest WoW patch. I haven't heard an official reason from Blizzard but supposedly, supposedly it is supposed to prevent game hacks and such. How it does that I don't know. I know nothing about computers to be honest.
