A Civil War? Really? The settlers will leave Gaza, that's a huge step. Yet, not enough, I suppose. And they'll need to police the border, which is wrong, apparently. Of course, who can trust an article from those anitsemites at the Beeb?

Oh come now Timber! I've yet to see any evidence that the BBC is anti-semitic - there are so many watchdogs keeping tabs on its reporting (including Jewish ones) that it wouldn't be tolerated.

The story is real, although I doubt it will ever degenerate into open war, simply because the vast majority of the 'mainland' population are in favour of the disengagement. My friend who has just returned from Jerusalem says that some of her family is definitely afraid of what might happen in the next few months, but that they think it is a small minority who will resist and it won't degenerate into a civil war.

Sir D, if you're interested in this, there's an revealing documentary that you can watch online at PBS about the Bat Eyin terrorists and their actions. Many settlers, I understand, resent the evictions obviously, but these guys have taken it further and declared war on the secular state of Israel itself. (the same guys who assasinated Rabin)

Not to change the main topic of the debate, but surely you recognize the whole world is antisemetic these days. It's the newest "in" thing.

The really great thing about labels like "anti-Semitic" is that they can be applied to anyone who has anything to say against Israel (even if Israel is in the wrong) or does not agree with the Israeli governmental position.

The article claims that a majority of Israeli citizens support the relocations. This may indeed be the case, but I also think that the majority of Israeli citizens will ultimately not joyfully move forward in the so-called "peace process" with the Palestinians. There is not at this time, nor will there be in the forseeable future, any peace between those two groups; the best they can acheive is to have some pauses in between attacks.

Nothing yet has ever happened which has disproved my hypothesis that the Israeli and Palestinian conflict will result in anything less than one side beating the other into complete submission.
