Out of your list I prefer Kivan (cos if you take Minsc you have to keep his weak mage, Dinaheir). Imoen is better than Jan. I prefer Branwen to Viconia and Khalid to Korgan. In the magic user department it's quite close but I prefer Edwin (his disadvantage is that he's evil though).

I too like Kivan over just about anyone else, though Minsc is good too. I had to drop him from my current party though. When he was leveling up, he was getting crappy hit die rolls. He was at lv=6 and only had 28 hit points. Not good for a front line fighter. I had Adjantis join my party and he came with 49 hitpoints. I like Branwen over Viconia and Kaigan over Khalid, though I must admit that I would just as soon have an open slot has to have Khalid. He's just about useless has far as I'm concerned. He's a coward in a fight. Xan verses Edwin... niether! I took Dynahir.
