Hey! I am looking for a rpg for my brother in law. He is currently playing Wizardry 8 and loves it! He likes that you can create your own characters and that it is not a linear game. What would be a game I could get him for Christmas?

Great! Sounds like BG is the one. I saw a website about Neverwinter Nights and it looked good, but I don't know of anyone who has actually played it.

As said by others, Baldurs gate2 with its expansion pack Throne of Bhall is the one to get. It should be available quite cheap now. But the quality and depth of the game makes it better than anything else around.

Planescape: Torment is excellent. Your only problem would be finding it...

Neverwinter nights is great. The Platinum Edition is the one to get as it contains all the expansions.
The best part of NWN is its online play and downloadable Modules. This means you can download a new game created in the NWN engine so the replayability is fantastic. Online mods such as Escape from Undermountain are a great feature as well.

I just spoke to my sister and she said that he has played the BG series. I looked up more info on Neverwinter Nights and have a question...
Do you HAVE to play online or is that optional. He hasn't gotten into the on-line rpg yet. If it does both, maybe that would get him interested in the game. Appreciate all you guys help. I guess I'm sort of clueless!! |
