Has anyone ever tried playing a multiplayer game on your own using characters from a book or something?

I thought of this the other day and decided to take some of the characters from The Lord of the Rings. Doing it with fantasy books works well because you get lots of different races, and if you try hard you can find a class to match just about anybody.

Am I the only person mad enough to try this? If so then you should try, so far I'm doing fairly well and it is a LOT of fun.

I planned a whole group from LOTR, but never played it.

Eomer: human, paladin, lawful good
Aragorn: halfelven, ranger, chaotic good
Gandalf: human, mage-fighter, nuetral good
Galadriel: elven, mage, nuetral good
Bilbo: halfling, thief, nuetral good
Arwen: elven, cleric, lawful good

I think it will be fun, maybe i should go play it. ?

Hey, I've never really thought of that! I've used NAMES from fantasy books and games but never actually based a party off of it. Maybe I should do that.... Maybe something from the Belgariad or the Mallorean by David Eddings....... Or of course there is the good ole LOTR. I should do the Company of the Ring!!! Well, there were nine of them but I could cut out Sam, Pippin, and Merry (I know, how could you possible cut out the hobbits!!! But really, what can you do with a bunch of halfling thieves? And halflings don't really make much else that's really good).

I planned it once but never played. I left out Merry, Pippin and Boromir

Aragorn - human paladin
Gandalf - human conjurer
Frodo - halfling warrior
Sam - halfling thief
Legolas - elven ranger
Gimli - dwarven warrior

Im not sure which clas is Frodo, so i chose just warrior. The only problem here is that the party doesnt have any cleric, maybe gandalf could be cleric/mage instead of just mage.

The nice thing with LotR is that the characters fit into one of the BG classes without too much trouble. In my game I left out Merry, Sam and Frodo and used-
Aragorn- LG human ranger
Boromir- LG human paladin
Gimli- NG drawven fighter/thief (thought I might need 2 thieves)
Legolas- NG elven fighter
Pippin- NG halfling thief
Gandalf- LG halfelven cleric/mage

It works fairly well so far and is tons of fun.

I thought one up today that I might try out, it's a lot like yours Mel:
Frodo - Halfling - Thief
Aragorn - Human - Ranger(Ranger/Cleric? Which then means Half-Elf)
Boromir - Human - Fighter(Paladin?)
Legolas - Elf - Fighter
Gandalf - Elf - Fighter/Mage
Gimli - Dwarf - Fighter

Think I should do it?

That sound like it will work. One point though, if you don't make Aragorn a ranger/cleric then make Gandalf a cleric/mage. You really need a cleric and with that group you don't really need Gandalf to be a good melee fighter.
