Trynton issue in Fourth Bough-probably stupid

Alright, this may be dumb. I've gone to the fourth bough, survived the fight in the main area there, even killed the stupid oaks. This Mardas (sp.?) guy is supposed to be here, but I can't find him. All I've found is the oak room, now looted, the room that apparently "leads" to the 7th bough, and the back room with the Rapax guys and two friendly guards (one of which died in the fight).

Where is he? Am I just in the wrong place, missing him, stupid, what?

If you're standing facing the door with the blue indentation "that leads to the 7th bough" turn around and go back to the nearest four-way intersection and look at your auto-map to see where you haven't been yet. You can go back to the Zoo from here, or to the Rattkin area, or Madras.

Madras is uphill, to the North, of this 4-way.

That link was to the best walkthrough that there was for wiz 8, but it got taken down some time ago.
