Hiya im nearing the end and ive been fortunate to receive alot of help from you guys
as i was doing the trials i noticed that selfishness rewards were favourable to the evil and i was wondering is there anyway to receive the reward without becoming evil?
can a paladin become evil? im guessing not and do these stat changes carry over to TOB which im gonna get this weekend

on a sidenote
i was wondering how races affect your characters? is it primarily for the appearance or are there some passive bonuses that are not in the char info screen

thanks

No, you cant do the evil path without becoming evil. Your Paladin will turn into a 'Fallen Paladin', and your new alignment goes on to ToB with you. Sorry.

No - if you choose the evil path, you become evil.

Paladins CAN become evil - it means that they have fallen and lose all their special abilities - making them fighters that level-up slowly.

Any changes resulting from the trials do carry over to ToB.

Races gives you access to different classes and have different max and min to charecteristics - nothing other than that i think. (this changes in 3rd ed AD&D)

Thanks exxon and Ar-Cunin
darn ..well going from 18 dex to 17 really sucks
in TOB are there quest that will bump your stats up?

i read somewhere that the lvl cap is raised to 40's..wow so do monsters give lots of exp now? or are there just more quest?
and do party members carry over? or is just the primary character

thx again

1. Yes, there is. The Machine of Lum the mad can raise all your stats if you have the right combinations.

2. Both. There are more quests, plus that you encounter stronger and more-giving creatures.

3. All your party carries over. And when you have gotten your "stronghold" there, you can summon all NPCs that were in SoA, except Yoshimo.

Read the spell descriptions.
If a save is offered by a spell; it uses your save vs spell, unless it states otherwise.
Save vs breath weapon is used when attacked by a Dragon`s breath weapon; and also by the spells Summon Insects, and Insect Plague.
Save vs Wands is used whenever a wand is used. This mainly applies to you using them against enemies.
Save vs polymorph is just that- a save vs anything that will change your shape (offensive spells only); and doubles as your save vs petrification. In other words, if someone in your party is turned to stone (by a beholder, for example); they failed their save vs. polymorph.
Save vs Death is used by spells such as Disintigrate, Power Word: Kill, Symbol: Death, and prismatic spray (I think); that cause instant death.

And at level 40; you wouldn`t be a god as such; as you can still roll a 1; which is always a fail regardless of values and modifiers.

1.2 Also the deck of many things, if you are lucky with it then there is a chance of raising your characters primary stat (eg. thief
-> dex, fighter -> str etc)

Not a god, but certainly godlike.. At about level 40, you could concievably take on a deity like Mask, Eilistraee, or Malar and emerge victorious.
