Before installing a game, I normally just skip through it.

When I'm signing up for a forum however, I often read it.

Well most software I purchase have pretty much the same license agreement. I susally read through Microsoft's agreements since I don't trust that company. However I do read through all agreements when I'm signing up or registering for a service.

You'd be surprised what's in there. For ToEE, the EULA gives the owner the right to make one copy of the program for backup purposes. However, SecuRom (cd ROM authentication software) prevents either copying the CDs, or using the copied CDs to play the game. To make matters worse, it is their current policy not to replace damaged discs more than 90 days after sale. Is this a breach of the license rights given in the EULA? If so, is it material and what are the damages?

On Atari Forums I argued it was a breach. Atari didn't like that, and closed the thread and called me a troll (AFTER I'd gotten rid of a troll, mind you). Oh well, sticks and stones.

Anywho, there are interesting issues in EULA's. I will tell you that on the commercial/industrial side I once saw a box manufacturer get sued for hundreds of thousands for making a copy of software it commissioned to run its operations. The company took a copy of the software to a second facility in a second state. Same software -- 2nd install. Got sued for nearly half a million.

i mostly read them if i think a program is likely to have spyware. if it does it will have something like 'we reserve the right to collect information about the user for advertising purposes as agreed under our privacy policy' at the bottom.

We know. It shows.

Listen, take that signature down and put up something more decent, or you will lose your ability to have a signature. Please.
