Does any of you have some tips for fighting Irenicus in Suldannesselar
except for running away?
At the start of the battle he casts some sort of shadow door/project image spell which spells can I use to cancel them?

To counter-act the spells, make your mages cast "true sight", if you have Keldorn he can cast it too.
As for the fight itself, I have discovered that sumooning a deva or/and a skeleton warrior helps alot since they are nearly 100% magic resistant
But really, it isn't a very hard fight, just cast alot of Ruby Ray of Reversals and Khelben's Wharding whip (or whatever) to get rid of his spell protections.
Dispel effects/magic is really good too.

GOOD LUCK!

If you have a green scroll Protection from Magic then use the scroll on him immediately at the beginning of the fight. His simulacrum(?) will be affected, too. This is the end because Irenicus without spells is as dangerous as a kobold...

Just as an aside: summoning a Deva is a ToB effect, not SoA.

The crude way (and the way I've done it in the past) is have everyone hasted, and as soon as JI gets off his first contingency/trigger, beat a hasty retreat to the western branch. Wait for his spell protections to wear off, then return and open up a can of whoop@$$ on him.

He'll bring some more protections in, so be ready with True Sight, Oracle, Breach, Ruby Ray, etc.; all the rest that Sir Exxon said.

Cheers,
-Saz

How to Beat Irenicus and Get a Good Laugh at the Same Time: (Spoilers, naturally)

1) Take a high-level Paladin and give him all the Magic-Resistance, Magice Damage Resistance, Saving Throws, and Regeneration stuff you have, including Carsomyr. When the party gets summoned up for the fight, send them all away, and just have your Paladin stand there and do absolutely nothing. Well, you can let him giggle if you want. You'll get Mazed twice, but otherwise Irenicus can't do a damn thing to you, until he finally runs out of everything except Magic Missiles, and even then it'd take him 10 minutes to kill you. So, when he starts in with the MMs, let your Paladin start swinging Carsomyr.

2) Send everyone away, except a Mage. Summon something stupid, like a Gibberling. Irenicus will use his only Death Spell on it. Now summon a Hakeashar and laugh your ass off.....
