I was just riding a bus a while ago and when I saw this sign or motto placed on the building.

"THE PRICE OF LIBERTY IS ETERNAL VIGILANCE"

I thought that kind of motto was pretty good dont you think?

All kidding aside Harkolier, it is a good quote and very true. Complacency in anything more often than not leads to unexpected, if not, dire consequences.

I disagree. Too much vigilance can lead to a police state, and I don't think thats a good thing imo. Being watched 24/7 "for your own good" is not my idea of freedom. I think that too much vigilance can lead to paranoia. Of course, on the other hand, too much complacency is a bad thing too.

"Work is the curse of the drinking class"-Oscar Wilde

"A classic is something that everyone wants to have read, but no-one wants to read"-Mark Twain

"Join the dark side. We have cookies."-a bumper sticker, because I'm one of those really pathetic people who find them incredibly funny
