Hi, Loumistro! I remember you from the W&W board.
Ok, first of all, you only create 1 character in BG2...that's the main character. Others will soon join you; in fact, in the first few minutes of the game, you can get up to 3 additional characters. What your goal is (in that first dungeon) is to A) get some experience and B) get out of there. I think it's pretty universally agreed that the particular starter dungeon really bites, and that the game really takes off after you get out of it. What you need to do is explore EVERYTHING while in there. It will help you learn how the system works. If you free all the other characters in the dungeon (Imoen, Minsc, Jaheira, and finally Yoshimo) and add them to your party, you should have a fairly well-balanced group, depending on the class of your own character. Imoen is a thief/mage, Minsc is a ranger and a great warrior, Jaheria is a fighter/druid and can be used for healing and protecting spells, and Yoshimo (later on) is another thief with better skills than Imoen, who is more of a mage. It's ultimately up to you who you want to take. Get the equipment in the first room and equip the party as best as you can, and keep searching for more caches as possible. Have Imoen search for and disarm traps in each room, as there are a few in there (and a load of them in one of the rooms!) Just keep working your way through. That's all I can tell you for right now. If you have a specific question, let us know. Hope you get to liking the game! -Sazerac

I got the first couple of people in my group but I can't find a door that isn't locked. Can I unlock those doors and if so how.
ya I was on the W&W and decided to try a new game. This one is more confusing and fustrating because it is running much slower than W&W which was going pretty fast.

If you're stuck try reding the uh...walk through or whatever it's called on this site. It explains things pretty well, and also has a map of the area to help out.
Take notes during the game if you have to. A lot of the stuff that comes up in conversation are hints and such. |

The only person who can open all those locked doors on the first level is the Sewage Golem. If the Sewage Golem is "too busy to talk to you," you need to download a patch. If that's the problem, we can point you in the right direction. If you can't even find the Sewage Golem, turn up the Brightness on your monitor.

Well, okay. My Guide's not quite done yet (still a few dead links), but it's close. I wonder if I should make a separate chapter for bugs.
My Almost-completed Guide is at Volothamp's Comeuppance Chapter 13 is usually the most useful chapter for players who already know the basics. Now that I think of it, I may not have uploaded Chapter 13 yet (I write it at home, take the disks to school & upload from there). Don't worry, I'll do a full update later today.
