If you were up for a promotion and then your boss calls you into their office and says you didn't get it but there was really no reason why you didn't get it, they just picked somone else, no real reason. In that situation what would you do?
Urinate on their desk. Bash your computer with a hammer. Fax a copy of your behind to all of the clients. Work harder and then just not get another promotion, when one is due to you. these are just a few examples. [ 09-16-2002, 04:54 PM: Message edited by: AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe ]

I'd look for another job and make sure that promotions, or at least regular raises in pay, were in the contract.

Id probably reckon that if Id got the promotion it would have looked the same from the other guys perspective.
Then use my administrative access (all IT guys have admin access, and the bosses passwords) to ensure I get the next one ![]()

I suppose if you live where I do, you'd just be glad you still have a job and think about the next promotion.
I started the job I have now, last November (after being out of work for 4 months) and I have not gotten a raise yet. I've been told I'm doing a great job, but that's about it. Business has not been great so I expect very little raise-wise this November. Jobs are hard to come by where I live, but I am always looking. The best time to look for a job is when you already have one. And, I doesn't pay to get angry because of a missed opportunity. It would only make you look bad, suffering in silence may be the best way to go until you find something else...if it's what you want, that is. Mark |

the company I work for grew over 50% in NET profit going from 600 million to 1 billion this year. This is not the result of a recession or anything. Other people less qualified/intelligent/hardworking/skilled ,honestly all of those, have been promoted over me already. I am sick of this company its time to get the heck of this ridiculous atmosphere. Let them promote less qualified people, and I wholeheartedly hope the business suffers because of it.

No worries AzRael. I was kinda kidding in a Gilda Radner sort of way!
There is nothing worse than not geeting the promotion, except when the boss is so stupid to say well you didn't get and there is no reason why. Looks like the boss may have reached his level of incompetence. Seems he could use some training in personel management and maybe some tact. There are better jobs out there I'm sure... the trick is finding them. And looking for work really sux. In about 25 years I've had about 18+ jobs and I hate the interview process! ![]() Mark |

Im just really down because I absolutely abhor my current job, but i just kind of got it as a starting point to move up in the company, but that is obviously not going to happen because of the companies tendency to promote , in a word, MORONS. I mean if they were equally as qualified I wouldn't be even close to as upset, but they are pretty much a walking talking monkey, which maybe be smart for a monkey, but for a human they are a moron. And since they WILL NOT promote me when i get another job i will have wasted 2 years of my life in this pointless dead end job that I completely loathe. My life is just grand right now.
