I just want to know. Can one use other than English in Ironwork? If I bring my friends here and we start typing in different languages, is that allowed or will the thread be deleted?

From what I remember you can speak in another language with friends if you try and keep it to one thread, but going around peoples threads and saying things others cant understand is quite rude and annoying and I THINK that its not allowed.

I`m not completely sure but I think that speaking in other languages here is frowned upon. Maybe because Ziroc can`t tell what you are saying.

Bokken and Sir Byronas had some threads in which they spoke only Greek, so provided it's limited to a single thread, at least it *was* allowed at some point. But like Azure said, it's never been allowed to post in a different language to 'normal' threads. No idea what the current policy is though, I imagine it's left to common sense mostly.

Hey! I was part of that Greek thread to...ehm...kind of...

Yeh, I'm pretty sure you're allowed to, make sure you don't interrupt other people's conversations though.

Mener du såsom at skrive på mit modersmål?

Do you mean like writing in my native language?

P.S. Sorry - I couldn't resist

It's ok to have an occasional conversation in another language - I've had it myself, especially if you want to make a newcomer feel more comfortable. We'd rather you not carry on an extended conversation in another language - not because we're being narrowminded, but because it excludes others from joining into the conversation (that's what email and PMs are for, anyway). As Mel said, it's all commonsense and tactfulness.

Think of it this way - we're all sitting around a big table, having a chat, when two or more people sitting at a table decide to carry on their own extended conversation in their own language. It's ok if it's short and sweet, like a como esta! or bonjour, or a few posts back and forth, but to carry it on for an extended period of time becomes quite rude to people around them, you know what I mean?

I hope you can understand this.

If anybody is found guilty of flaming or abusing someone in another language in the hope that they will not get caught, the penalties will be heavier for that person than if they had done it in English, I assure you. We don't like sneaky sneaks here.

Some things you wanna discuss are just not interesting for people who don;t talk ur language
For one it is in my eyes no more then logical when a thread about say Acda and the Munnik (dutch cabaret) is in Dutch
