i seem to have the unlucky thing of my baldurs gate 2 getting an illegal operation when i try to play a multiplayer game. I always get this error:
Quote:
AppName: bgmain.exe AppVer: 2.5.0.2 ModName: dplayx.dll
ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 00007b7c
I dont know if that means I have a conflict programs but I do have alot of programs running in the background. I have tried disabling them one by one but no luck for me. Help?

If memory serves BG2 has issues with newer versions of Direct X. The fact the fact that you're seeing an error with Direct Play (dplayx.dll) seems to back this up.

Check for a DX9 patch for BG2.

That's going to be a hard issue to work out, since the game isn't officially supported anymore. You may have to search out the DirectX website to see if there are any fixes for it.

lol i took a peek into bioware forums (since interplay is no more), and its very active with post as recent as a min ago. Thats how good bg2 is . Anyways, there have been alot of complaints but there is no one solution but a myriad of suggestions which may work or help with the conflict.

People regarding video cards have said enable or disable 3d. It works either way

Enable certain options or disable sounds (ambient sounds)

fiddle with dxdiag (direct x program itself)

disable certain features with your video card like anti-aliasing

its like a puzzle with a hit and miss for me. Currently i am able to play, but i seem to experience some 'jerkiness'movements in my game that I havent been able to solve. Any suggestions would be welcome if they had the same problem.

thanks for showing me the way guys

Hmm, I remember a similar problem.
I fixed it by disabling the 3d acceleration.

If that doesn't work, try installing an older version of DirectX (maybe version 8a?) and let us know how that goes

I know there was a DX patch for the original BG and TOSC. I'm using 9c with no problems but I don't use multiplayer.

Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode using 98 or even 95?
