lol
The people are throwing rocks at Sadam statue. Taking a sledge hammer and exchanging turns at smashing it. They are trying to bring it down one person at a time. I bet it feels good huh. In a country where talking bad about the government could you killed. I can only imagine the pent up anger. Now I have seen plenty of tapes of waving, cheering, and jubilation. And the looting is hard to be hard on. I mean these people had NOTHING. I am not so sure I would not be trying to drag off anything I could either. Anyway very interesting to watch. And far more entertaining than seeing people in this forum taking last minute pot-shots at each other.

No doubt the endgame is now in play... and as with Gulf War I'm amazed at the brevity of the campaign.
Now the real tough part starts, and IMO rebuilding is going to be FAR more trecherous than the war was. I include the rebuilding of international relations in this too. In all the arguments that I've heard against the war, the only one that IMO was logical and persuasive was that the damage done to the International Community, combined with the difficulties of building a nation composed of three factions that don't get along... would result in a quagmire that the Coalition would not be able to solve or escape. |

I enjoined watching footage of the American Translator originally from Iraq (possibly dual citizen). He was treated home with a hero's welcome. It must be nice coming home to see relatives, as well as helping to free them.

Let's wish them as much ease at the task as the Armed Forces had getting into Baghdad.
They still haven't reached Tikrit yet either...its not over but today was one hell of a milestone, a few moments of history that I feel privileged to have witnessed. |

Thoran I don't want to spoil a good thing here but I can go the other way and say the only truthful justified argument for the war that I have heard is to free the people of Iraq from a tyrant. The other reasons being spewed were/are possibly total bull. If they had tried this approach from the beginning as opposed to dumping horse manure more countries would have been alongside. |

Enjoy the moments of celebration for what they are meant to be...celebration. This move into the square was orchestrated by Central Command...they know their job is not over. |
