Terrified Iraqi soldiers who thought the war had already started, crossed
the Kuwait border and tried to surrender to British forces, according to a
report in the London Sunday Mirror.

Only thing I can't understand is why they sent them back.

Yeah, I can hear it now:

Terrified Iraqi Soldier: Hey, we heard the war has started. We wanna surrender.

British Officer: Terribly sorry, you have to wait until we attack you to surrender. Bad form, y'know.

Terrified Iraqi Soldier: Well, can't we at least desert?

Is this true? I mean is that a reliable site? If it is, I don't think you guys should be laughing or taking the piss. I feel sorry for those poor Iraquis who don't even want to fight for their stupid leader and have to face death with no honour, not even a cause they want to fight for. Not many things I can think of that are worse...

That doesn't sound very realistic. For although morale is really low, the family's of soldiers who surrender will be executed by Saddams Republican Guard (or so I've been told).

I already posted about this issue this morning in TL's thread in the warforum (where it belongs btw). And i got it from a Dutch newssource, but they got it from the British press. I don't know why there should be any doubt about it's reliability.

In the Gulf War, the Iraqi soldiers were surrendering in such large numbers that the National Guard units assigned to securing and processing them were severaly lagged down. I know several members of our local National Guard unit personally...one was in our gaming group at the time.

He said the soldiers were throwing down their weapons and lining up to be taken prisoner. One of the officers of the unit told my dad that it took them 3 days to cover a 10 mile stretch one time, because they were being flooded with so many prisoners, their transport units were filled to capacity and had to keep returning to base camp.

Vaskez - There is no shame in not being loyal to an evil tyrant like Saddam Hussein. And I beleive it only adds validity to the numerous claims of atrocities committed against the Iraqi people by Saddam. His people do NOT "love him". A great many of them hate him as much as we do....probably more so, since they have to live with his evil on a daily basis.

[/QUOTE]I'm not about the NG, I don't talk about them.
But, once we crossed the Euphrates river bed, we were chasing the republican guards. We ran into one of there units that was moved into a blocker position, to "Stall" us. They did. We left our Inf plt (32 men, + 4 Brads) to cover down on 1753 EPWs, while we continued to march. They had no morale then, they had no want to fight. What makes you think they do now???

The big house has already press released exactly what the plan is. That is a very two sided bold blade.
1.) You are telling your enemy exactly how you are going to kick his butt. A very short but deliberate air superioty strike, combined with all 3 aspects of modern warfare. Sea, land and air battles. Done and over with in less than 3 weeks start to finish.
2.) You are also telling him when you are going to kick his butt. 17 MAR seems to be a re-appearing date either spoken or written from the recent press releases.
