Who'd have thought they would have adamantly refused to destroy them claiming the inspectors were wrong only to change their minds....
![]() Guardian Unlimited story EDIT - The title and first paragraph indicate they've agreed to do it, but the second paragraph says they are seriously considering it. Oh well, they will agree to do it. ![]() [ 02-27-2003, 01:46 PM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ]

That has been the Iraqi strategy ever since the Gulf War - resist until just before a critical event - then give up as little as they can get away with to avoid confrontation.

Hey! What do ya know I actually found something I agree with Ar-Cunan about .
You are quite correct, that for the last 12 years or so, Iraq has resisted right up to the point where it would cause something really bad to happe...then they appear to give in....just a little...just enough to delay the next round of hostilities. Iraq agreed to disarm completely and willingly to avoid the US and Coalition forces from takeing over the whole country...then for 12 years avoided abiding by the peace treaty...it is time they lived with the consequences of that strategy. Of course that is opinion. |

Is it my imagination or didn't Saddam Hussein just get done telling Dan Rather that he didn't have those missiles that they just agreed to destroy? Be a neat trick if you can destroy something you don't have......

Even during that interview he was more than happy to twist all the facts around and lie. The inspectors have declared the missiles are a violation, he claims they are lying, but he's such a nice guy he's going to go along. ![]()

I reckon these missiles are a bit of a red herring, so they can go 100 miles instead of 90, big deal.
Do you live within 100 miles of Saddam?. Me neither.

So that's your official opinion on UN mandates? That they don't matter? I guess that means you won't be complaining when the US goes in without UN approval. They won't be coming to your house, so you don't have to worry.

If we're talking UN mandates here, the US vetos every single one aimed at criticizing israel, even when every other UN member supports them.
Double standards?, you betcha. When it comes down to it the US does what it likes regardless. Have you seen the missiles by the way?. My old Grandmother has better missiles, well not really but you get the idea. [ 03-03-2003, 06:35 AM: Message edited by: Desdicado ]

Are you a missile expert? Do you know more than the weapons inspectors? Because you think they look crappy, would it be ok if someone dropped one on your house?
