It clearly shows that we are a democratic state and a state of the law. It also shows that we do not treat palestinians indiscriminately the entire time, and that they can change things that they really do not like.

I must say that i find myself agreeing with The Supreme Court of Justice.

Personally I don't think anyone but fanatics and anti-semites ever thought those things.

Edit: or misinformed/uninformed persons.

I tend to agree. The North American media has a very limited knowledge of the conflict and the subtleties of the region. Instead of thoughtful articles, we usually get lists of deaths, atrocities and shallow coverage - no matter which side(s) the media supports.

That's not to cheapen the deaths and horrible things that have happened and will happen. But there's much much more to the situation than is immediately obvious.

(I would recommend anyone pick up a copy of "From Beirut to Jerusalem" by T.L. Friedman; it's a well-balanced book that gives good background. The author has substantial first-hand experience and lots of connections among both Palestinians and Israelis. He also has less of an axe to grind than almost any other author I've found on the topic.)

Allow me to second Aerich's book recommendation; I doubt I'll ever read it a second time -- -- but it's definitely good.
