Do you litter?

Please respond to the scenarios with what you would usually do (just so I don't have to arse about with 'well sometimes I do this, but other times I do this' indecisive posters )

I am a boy of justice and righteousness, therefore I do not litter. It's just plain lazy and besides: the trouble you get into for dropping litter isn't worth the luxury of not walking two feet to a bin. Even if no-ones around to catch you, litter is just plain unpleasant to look at and even one small piece of litter can totally ruin the perfect location.

And gum? Don't get me started on it... Is it really too much of a hassle to wrap it up and throw it away? Gum on the floor spoils everything. I'll stop at that for my own good.

I don't smoke but if I did I would put it in a bin - it's almost become socially acceptable to casually drop a cigaretee and ground it down to ash. Well, in some places anyway.

I never litter, I keep all my trash on me until I find a trashcan if there is none around. I just can't even imagine leaving a food wrapper on a bench or just tossing it on the ground and walking away. Don't know why I am this way, no particular reason I suppose, but I just truly don't litter.

I'd rather carry a wrapper in my pocket than leave it on the ground.. There's enough trash lying about.

Cigaretbutts are litter too right ? In that case i litter, yes. No empty cans, paper or other stuff though, that's a-social. But i wouldn't know where else to put my cigarette when i'm outside. You can't dump it in a trashcan, because you might set it on fire.

You can get fined here for that now btw.

I've been fined for everything in Holland. Chucking a cigarette out of a car window when driving, peeing on a perfectly pee-able object when drunk, even putting my dustbin out a day early. It's terrible.

But back to litter - in general, it depends on the size of the object and promiximity of a dustbin. If there's one within say, thirty yards, I'll always chuck whatever I have in there. If I have a small scrunched up piece of paper in my hand and there's no dustbin anywhere, chances are I'll chuck it in the bushes. But if I have, say, an empty two-pint bottle of coke, I won't just throw that into the undergrowth. In that case I'll always wait til I see a trash can.

My poll originally had options for 'do not smoke' and 'do not chew gum' but I forgot to add them back in when I added a new question - sorry about that .

I know what you mean about it being acceptable to drop butts about, Jaradu - I have a friend who smokes (we have a break in lectures and she's like wanna go for a smoke? Mmmm nothing better ), and she always just drops it on the ground and steps on it when she's done. Icky.

While I don't 'litter' (ie: I put my garbage in the designated bins), I can appreciate the irony in the fact that the state does my littering for me. All that garbage has to get dumped somewhere eventually... Which leads on to the next question: do you recycle? [img]smile.gif[/img]

And when I was a regular smoker I used to flick my butts wherever was convenient [img]smile.gif[/img]

I don't litter. Wrappers are carried in the pocket until a appropiate waste storage facility (trash can) has been spotted.

I have to say, I honestly don't litter and it pains me to see trash/rubbish lying in the streets, on the grass on highways, outsides stores, anywhere in fact. I in fact hate it very much, but apparently I still don't have enough incentive to pick up the messes others have made, and I believe this is something I should overcome. Unfortunatly I also have OCD, and I think i'll catch any disease, virus if I perform a certain act, which is another reason why I don't touch other peoples messes, I just don't know where it's been.

-Im thinking i'll strap on a rubber suit, rubber gloves, and a respirator, get me those nice sticks with spikes on the end and go on a trash picking up spree. And then afterwards take 5 showers one every hour just to be careful.

I'm health crazy, i'm 16, don't eat any type of candy whats so ever. When I come home from school i'm eating 3 - 4 bananas, 2 tomatoes, and some grapes to fill my stomach [img]smile.gif[/img] . Another OCD phenomenon. I can't even take cigarrette smoke (not a bad thing) but my parents seem to get pissed when my windows are open when its 32 degrees outside... with a fan on and door shut. (I'm laughing so hard right now.)
