I wonder what Jeb Bush has in mind for San Francisco if he becomes president in 2008?

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Jeb Bush joked during a Florida Cabinet meeting Wednesday that the people of San Francisco may be endangered and, “That’s probably good news for the country.”

The subject was environmental land and at the time Bush was looking at a map showing locations with a lot of different wildlife.

“It looks like the people of San Francisco are an endangered species, which may not be a bad thing. That’s probably good news for the country.”

It's always heartening to hear a memeber of the ruling family joke that your death and the death of 750,000 other people would be a good thing for the country.

Maybe it's time for us 'wacky' Californian's to dump all the dead waste to the the east that keeps dragging down our economy [img]smile.gif[/img]

It's because SF is just too weird. It's looked at as nothing more than a gathering place for every freak, fringe, and crack pot group in this country. The only people not wanted there are normal people.

Actually, I'm considering interviewing for a job there. When Rain and I visited (she worked there 2 months) in 2000, we told ourselves we'd love to live there some day. I'm wondering if my more sensible Midwestern attitude that I have since adopted will make me like it less now. Also, I'm wondering if now that I've grown used to Chi-town, it might feel just to darn small.

Anyway, Jeb Bush has a good track record (comparatively) of protecting endangered species in FL. Maybe he was saying it was a good thing because now they can be protected. [img]graemlins/heee.gif[/img]

Amen, and well said.

But the head of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force didn’t see anything funny in the governor’s comment and believed it to be anti-gay because of San Francisco’s large gay population. “It’s extremely insulting,” said Matt Foreman. “But of course I would say that gay people in Florida are far more endangered than gay people in California.”

How anal retentive. Erm... I mean, gay people should be able to laugh at themselves, too. And, I think most are from those I've known. Of course this guy is paid to be offended by everything, so good for him for doing his job. [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]
