Savegames and talking with people

Hello guys, I'm new in this, but some expertise in the game. I'm sorry but my English is a little poor.
Well, my question is that sometimes, when I load a saved game, a lot of characters doesn't talk to me, I mean, when I point then with the mouse and click (you understand me,I want to chat them) the only thing it appears ALWAYS is that they're busy, even when doing it is a must to go on with the story. If I return some hours later after turning off the PC, or go into another room and going inmediately back to that other room, sometimes I can chat them, but this doesn't always happen. Please tell me if that's a bug.
I tried reinstalling both BG2 and Throne of Baal, but it doesn't work. It's funny but a friend of mine who plays too haven't that problem at all. Could it be that I used Shadowkeeper 1.6? I'm struggling, please help me. thanx

Hey [img]smile.gif[/img] if you're using Windows 2000, (euggh..) then you'll need the latest patch for ToB from the official website or something cos that is a major bug. helps? [img]smile.gif[/img]

I wasn't aware of Windows 2000 causing this problem as well. I do know that Windows XP does indeed cause this problem, as I experienced it myself. You need to patch the game to solve the problem.

I use it under WinXP, but I've tried to install the last patch offered by Interplay but when I did a message was shown to me saying that the "Throne of Baal" expansion installed included that upgrade, so I'm very lost. I want to thank U all for your attention. Thanx.

Did you download the complete new bgmain.exe?
I know I had to in order to get the game running normally again. Quest xp wasn't added to my xp-values and indeed a lot of sub-quests didn't even start because of this problem. What version of BG2 are you running? It may be stupid to ask, but did you download the compatible patch?

I get that almost all the time!

I have no idea how anybody could be busy if they're just standing around!

... I didn't realize is was a Windows 2000 problem, though. Come to think of it, the problems started after I installed that. Oh, well.

You need to get the TOB patch, the SoA patch is indeed included with ToB.

And while Ive got it handy I may as well mention that there an unofficial patch here:

that supposedly sometimes fixes this problem.
