The only way I know of is Ruby Ray of Reversal. The earliest you can get it is in Ust'Nartha. Kangaxx puts it up along with the Mage I rescued from the Elemental Portals. The Coweled Wizzard in Brynlaw does too; but, he forgets to protect himself from magical weapons, idiot. If I remember, he was a bit of a madman. Is there another way? Keep in mind that I want a direct fight. I don't set traps or run away and come back. Those tactics are fine. I've used them all before. It is brains over brawn. I just love the high level mage on mage battles. It's one of the aspects that sets this game apart. Thanks.

project image, have your image use protection from magic on your opponent... but then, that would defeat your object as the poor git couldn´t cast anything...

i have´t tried it but i suppose melfs minute meteors should take down a spell trap quickly enough (15 levels a round)... they have that effect on spell turning at any rate.

or just don´t bother with it all, turn into a mustard jelly and wait until the silly git runs out of spells.

Spellstrike (level 9) obliterates all spell protections, if I remember correctly.

AFAIK,
Ruby Ray of reversal (lvl 7)
Pierce shield (lvl 8)
Spell strike (lvl 9)

Are the only spells capable of taking down a Spell-trap.

I find that the old
Cleric casts True Seeing
Primary Mage casts Pierce Shield
Secondary Mage casts Breach
Fighter, with big pointy weapon, smiles at the naked Mage
will take down most anything in just a couple of rounds. No big deal.

When I'm able to cast Pierce Shield, an 8th level spell, Spell Trap is no longer a problem. Before you get Ruby Ray, a 7th level spell, you can't take down the trap. If that trap is up, you can't take down Protection From Magical Weapons and all the tough guy fighters are USELESS. They just swing away saying "My weapon has no effect!?", and then they are hit by the Horrid Withering or whatever else the oposing spellcaster decides to experiment with.
